Beyond the Badge

Many LAPD officers proudly carry dual identities as law enforcement professionals and military veterans. Their daily responsibilities often place them in high-stress, emotionally demanding situations where they respond to difficult calls and witness traumatic events. With the department currently understaffed, opportunities to pause, reflect, or build camaraderie within the ranks have become increasingly rare. Recently, a group of officers had the opportunity to visit Lounge 888, a members-only space created to offer a safe and supportive environment for those who serve. The visit provided a meaningful chance to unwind, share experiences, and strengthen bonds with colleagues who understand the challenges of both military and police life.
This experience served as an important reminder that healing and resilience grow through connection and community. The department extends sincere gratitude to the Foundation for Learning Athletics & Growth (FLAG) for making this opportunity possible and for their continued support of officers and veterans alike.

HEALTHY ROOM LA
Our veterans continue to give back to the community in ways that words can hardly express. Through Healthy Room LA, they are changing the lives of at-risk youth in vulnerable communities by transforming their bedrooms into safe and healthy spaces in partnership with local police. This month, Sergeant Rodriguez reached out about a family in need. Through our Veteran Wellness Program, we were able to help him purchase a mattress and other essential items so the family’s children could have a safe and comfortable
place to rest.
