Celebrating Success: Our Veterans Wellness Lunch Program and Nicks Kids Youth Soccer Program

We’re thrilled to share the incredible success of not just one but two impactful programs close to our hearts. Firstly, our monthly Veterans Wellness Lunch program, spearheaded by Police Officer Jeff Joyce and funded through FLAG (Foundation for Learning, Athletics, & Growth), continues to provide our veteran officers with essential support and camaraderie.

In addition, we’re honored to highlight the remarkable achievements of the Nicks Kids Youth Soccer Program. Founded in 2016 by two LAPD/CSP officers, Nicks Kids began with a simple goal: to provide children within the Nickerson Gardens community with a safe space to play and grow. What started with four children kicking a soccer ball in the Nickerson field has blossomed into a transformative program, impacting the lives of countless young athletes.

Every Wednesday and Friday night at 109th St Park, Nicks Kids gathers to play soccer, fostering athletic skills and social and emotional development. Nicks Kids has achieved extraordinary outcomes by instilling moral values and assisting the whole child. From a 100% graduation rate to 85% of high school graduates attending college, the program is a testament to the power of community support and mentorship.

We’re immensely proud of Officer Jeff Joyce for his instrumental role in programs and recent recognition with the Community Policing Medal. His dedication and leadership have made a profound impact, strengthening our community and uplifting those within it.

As we celebrate these successes, we’re reminded of the importance of supporting initiatives that empower and uplift individuals within our community. Together, let’s continue championing programs like the Veterans Wellness Lunch and Nicks Kids, ensuring that every member of our community thrives.
